    Troubleshooting Your VersiFlow Pump:


    Pump Problem

    Things to Check as Causes

    Pump Hums and Doesn't Run
    • Optional float may be stuck
    • Power cord may not be fully plugged in
    • Water level may not be at turn on level. Check installation drawing in manual
    • Circuit breaker may be off, loosened, or fuse blown
    Pumps out Sump and Runs but Doesn't Stop
    • Impeller may be partially clogged and needs to be inspected and cleaned
    • Volute or impeller openings are partially or fully clogged. Inspect and clean
    • Inlet holes may be clogged. Inspect and clean
    • Vertical pumping distance may be too high or your pipe is too small
    • Pump may be air-locked. Stop and start several times by unplugging and plugging. Check for possible clogged vent hole in pump casing
    Running Pump doesn't Deliver Water
    • Check valve may be installed backwards
    • Shut-off valve may be closed
    • Volute or impeller openings could be clogged. Inspect and clean
    • Pump may be air-locked. Stop and start several times by unplugging and plugging.
    • Inlet holes in pump casing may be clogged. Inspect and clean
    • Vertical pumping distance may be too high, or pipe size may be too small.
    Pump Only Pumps Out a Small Amount of Water
    • Impeller may be partially clogged and needs to be inspected and cleaned
    • Volute or impeller openings are partially or fully clogged. Inspect and clean
    • Inlet holes may be clogged. Inspect and clean
    • Vertical pumping distance may be too high or your pipe is too small
    • Pump may be air-locked. Stop and start several times by unplugging and plugging. Check for possible clogged vent hole in pump casing
    Circuit Breaker Trips or Fuse Blows During Startup
    • Impeller may be partially clogged and needs to be inspected and cleaned
    • Volute or impeller openings are partially or fully clogged. Inspect and clean
    • Motor stator may be defective
    • Circuit breaker fuse size many be too small. Matala VersiFlow pumps require a 15 amp or larger breaker
    Pump Only Runs for a Short Time Then Stops
    • Volute or impeller openings are partially or fully clogged. Inspect and clean
    • Impeller may be partially clogged and needs to be inspected and cleaned
    • Inlet holes may be clogged. Inspect and clean
